- Review past materials
- Research competitors’ materials
- Conduct interviews with client personnel to
refine goals and objectives
THEME/CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT –
- Preliminary Design Phase
- Investigate various conceptual and graphic approaches:
photographic, illustrative, abstract pictograms etc.
- Present preliminary sketches to client for feedback
- Discuss pros and cons of the approaches
- Select and approve design direction
THEME/CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT – Refinement
Phase
- Refine the selected direction as needed
- Incorporate the client reactions into the final design
- Copy development and approval
IMPLEMENTATION – Production
- Final copy approval and type specification
- Completion of any artwork – photography,
illustration, etc.
- Production of camera-ready artwork complete with vendor
specifications and printing instructions
IMPLEMENTATION – Print Supervision
- Review project specifications and artwork with
print representative
- Review and approve project blueline and composite (preliminary)
color proof
- Conduct on-site print supervision (e.g., press checking
during the printing process) takes place at this stage.
