The California Architects Board utilizes different outreach tools
for communicating to its varied audience: architects, candidates,
building officials and allied professions. To appeal to the design-minded,
aesthetically-sophisticated target audience, many of these key pieces
were retooled to project a more current, professional image.
A bolder, more modern masthead was designed as the
cornerstone of the newsletter, which featured clean rectilinear
layouts, contemporary typographical treatments and controlled color
palettes. This approach was applied to other publications, such as the “Candidate’s Handbook” and “Consumer’s Guide to Hiring an Architect.”
